It is hard to encapsulate the Substance + Beauty retreat at Sophie Conran’s home… Every day was so full to the brim with deliciousness, Grace and connection! I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Sophie Conran, Amber Scott, Gioconda Scott and Posie Hall for making this retreat such a success. Our participants were a fascinating mix of world, spirit, creativity and openness to the process of the retreat. While Amber offered yoga, Gioconda & Posie offered delicacies created straight from the gardens of Salthrop House, Sophie Conran hosted us all with welcoming warmth & care and I offered individual and group healing sessions. Each day felt relaxed yet structured, giving participants a rare opportunity to pause, retreat and reflect on their lives in a magical land of ancient stones (including the nearby Avebury Henge, which Ric Weinman has previously written about as being the heart of all the stone circles of Western Europe).
I was given a wonderful card of thanks from one retreat participant, which I feel really sums up the response to and mood of the Substance + Beauty retreat. I include here (anonymously) part of this note : “I wish I could hold onto the clarity I feel now forever…..I have to say that I have never felt like this.”
One of my favourite parts was when we all went to Avebury Henge, where I was to facilitate an earth magic meditation / group healing. We arranged to meet at 12 30pm (on 19/9/26) at the Dragon’s Heart [of the huge energetic Dragon living in the earth at Avebury Henge – more in the next newsletter about this]. I sat there beforehand and blissed out by bridging into the Dragon ✨
When our group gathered (about 10 of us), suddenly another – huge – group of wiccans, druids and pagans descended upon us! An amusing man with a large wooden staff announced that we had to move because they had a public licence to perform a ceremony here at this exact time. At that point Amber Scott lost it and burst into hysterics 🤣 I anxiously kept it together, but softened when the aforementioned bloke invited us to receive a special blessing, because their gathering was specifically to welcome newcomers. Not only that, but apparently said gathering only took place every 30 years, in the exact spot of the Dragon’s Heart. You couldn’t make it up! We were asked to join in and receive the blessing for newcomers, which we did, and it was great fun 🙂
My experience, as the whole thing unfolded, was of receiving a window into the amazing truth of Divine Choice… I had had everything prepared – I had got up extra early to do Archana (the 1000 Names in Sanskrit) for facilitating the meditation / healing, then read my notes repeatedly, prayed, sat with it – and more. Yet here, now, right in front of me – was the undeniable reality of no personal choice! I will write more next time about the huge energetic Dragon living in the earth at Avebury Henge.
