Made In India pt. 6

Hello 🙂

The next Free Online Group Healing is this Friday 19th June @ 2pm London time.If you feel drawn to do so, please let your friends / fam / etc. know by sharing this link with them. Please book your place if you can remain on Zoom for the duration (1hr) in a quiet space free from distractions. Thank you🙏

I have had a couple of queries about this, so just by way of explanation – yes, I usually start the Groups 10 mins early. This allows people time to arrive and me time to read to you from awakening texts. You are welcome to arrive early if this appeals, but also fine if not.

The next stop on the Indian Pilgrimage, was visiting Anandamayi Ma’s maha-samadhi (where she left the body) in Kankhal. When she had got married, Anandamayi Ma’s husband wanted to consummate the marriage and asked her. Apparently she replied something like, “You can try”. What ensued, permanently changed the man’s life. As he touched his wife’s body for the first time, he received electric lightning-volt type shocks, leaving him in a peak awakening experience. After this, it seems he took bramacharya (celibate renunciation) and became his wife’s devotee.

What was quite funny – and very India – was that the whole time we were sat as a group meditating at the maha-samadhi, a pneumatic drill was going right outside, lol! The amazing thing was, it didn’t make the slightest bit of difference… The Silence, the experience and the energetic transmission of Divine effervescence in that sacred place were not affected even one iota.

You can read more about Anandamayi Ma here :-

Afterwards, we settled in Rishikesh for a while, later visiting the ashram of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (of Transcendental Meditation and Beatles fame). Check out the remarkable way this photo of John Lennon (taken during his trip there circa 1968) magically turned out :-

Our time steeped in the spirit of Maharishi seemed to bring out the joyfulness and singing in us all 🙂 I think my favourite thing about his place was meditating silently in the caves in which people had been doing so for many decades.

I have always had an uneasy feeling about people taking the plant medicine known as Bufo. Then Ric Weinman wrote to us about it, so I am including part of what he has discovered to try to deter you : “…it put her brain in shock. With another student – who has done it a number of times – his whole nervous system was in shock, which kept him in a kind of survival-tension. I had always seen that tension in his system, but if he hadn’t told me about taking the drug, I would have never realized that the cause was his nervous system being in shock; I would have thought that it was emotional survival stuff generating body tension. And the shock is so deep, Merlin had me only release a third of it to start, because releasing all of it at once would have overwhelmed his system. I had to wait a week to release the next third, and another week to release the rest. Common sense should tell you that if you take something that creates an immediate blow-out experience (which these substances do), this is going to shock the system with possible long-lasting consequences. Even high-level students are having trouble clearing all this from their systems.” But of course help is at hand. If you have taken Bufo, please let me know in session so that I can work on its impact.

Made In India pt. 5

Hello 🙂 🙂

🕉 Om Amriteswaryai Namah 🕉

“Spirituality teaches us to face everything with a smile. For one who knows swimming, the sea waves are delightful. Whereas for one who cannot swim, the sea and its waves are terrifying; one might even drown. Similarly, what helps us face the ups and downs of life are proper knowledge and the proper attitude. The smile that blossoms on our lips is God’s signature on our face. We should not permit sorrow or anger to wipe it off. My children should always have the awareness to sustain that smile and have faith in God.” ~ Amma

I have recently been asked to be the Healer on a retreat in September. It will be a magical retreat at the beautiful home of Sophie Conran, Salthrop House. A wonderful way to open to the magic of the Equinox season in a land of ancient stones 🙂 The retreat involves four days of strong yoga practice, healing treatments and delicious food from the gardens. It is an invitation to develop your sensitivity to the energy of life. It is a rather pricier affair than perhaps any of us are used to, so I am not expecting you to join. But I wanted you to know the good news and my happiness upon being asked by Amber Scott 🙂 Please contact me directly if you would like more details.

Some of you may be wondering why I am telling so many stories from the Pilgrimage in north India and my time in India generally – or why I have titled this series of newsletters accordingly. It gets down to something subtle in a way – though in another way, perhaps quite overt. It could almost be said that there are two things going on in life for every human being, which are in a gradual process of becoming one. There is Stillness (a creative expression of Reality, what we actually are) and there is conditioning (which could be compared to a dream – often a bad dream – into which we become entranced, thus losing the sense of what we actually are). Through the natural (and usually gradual) process of our awakening embodiment evolution, these apparent two seem to become one, melting into each other in a Divine dance. I would say that the primary factor which facilitates all of this is the applied practice of opening to Stillness and the willingness to stay there. This eventually culminates in a 100% surrender to Divinity and the end of all suffering. To come back to what I was originally saying, India and the sadhanas (spiritual practices) inherent to its history have the Divine magic necessary for this potential to blossom.

From Santosh Puri ashram, we travelled with Gangotri (one of the Divine children running the ashram, as I mentioned previously) to Kankhal, Haridwar, to visit Swami Avdheshanand Giri :-

To this day, I don’t know why exactly this visit had such an impact on me… It wasn’t as if one thing happened which was ‘the thing’, it was more like being there in and of itself did something very significant. As we all lined up awaiting Swami Avdheshanand’s arrival, I felt an energy swish through the crowd which made me turn to look in the direction from which it had come. Suddenly, about 15 young boy monks wearing beautiful pure yellow robes rounded the corner, singing a chant with an amazing combination of gusto and discipline. It was visually mesmerising, yet there was something else – something like a power (in the Divine sense) which rushed through all of us and the entire atmosphere too. I had full-body goosebumps for the whole of their march to the temple, my mind stopped, my breathing softened and loosened and I experienced the awe of witnessing Divinity itself.

Later on, I happened to be there as Gangotri (perhaps also moved by this power) broke down in tears during a conversation with Prasadini (our Pilgrimage leader). My inner perceptions of their exchange are too private to share. But what I will say is that Gangotri was speaking about the excellent work Prasadini is doing in keeping the dharma alive in the world (in the Schweibenalp community, Switzerland, where she lives). I was so moved, so deeply deeply touched by what I saw…

You can read more about the particular lineage of sadhus from Swami Avdheshanand Giri here :-

For individual sessions, please tell me if you have a particular organ problem. Ric Weinman has kindly explained this method of healing if so : “…a general way to think of the big picture is: it’s best to make sure a genetic modification isn’t needed, that the pathways as well as the Aliveness (MI) are getting fully into the cells of that organ, then optimize intelligence, and then work with the organ (detailed step in the organ protocol).”

Made In India pt. 4

Hello 🙂

🕉 Om Amriteswaryai Namah 🕉

“The current situation the world is facing is not under our control. But there is one thing we can always keep in check – our mental attitude. Let us be strong and optimistic. To do this, we should focus on the Eternal. We should hold tightly to the feet of Paramatma. This steadfast faith and focus on the Paramatma can lift us beyond all kinds of limitations.” ~ Amma

Before leaving Amritapuri in February, I was asked to join a Pilgrimage of North India. I gladly did so, having known very little of the country except for my visits to see Amma in Kerala. The idea was to visit the sacred sites of North India with a Group of (mainly) German and Swiss spiritual types, singing kirtan together along the way.

We travelled to the Haridwar area to stay at Santosh Puri ashram, where the atmosphere was truly spectacular… Imagine an area of the world where for thousands of years people have been performing Pujas and other devotional ceremonies, calling out to the Divine and surrendering to That. I think of all the places we visited on the Pilgrimage, that area – and especially that ashram – were my favourites. The history of this ashram is that, during the freedom of the 1960s, a woman visited the Guru there from Germany. She was so moved by the Truth she felt, that she threw both her passport and her visa straight into the nearby Ganga river! She never left India again for the following 45 years. She married the Guru and thus became the other Guru of Santosh Puri. The Gurus had 3 children, who now take care of the ashram and its visitors with utmost care, love and devotion. Check out the duni fire (sacred fire-pit), which has been burning continuously since my birth year of 1978 :-

The routine and vibe were so wonderful at Santosh Puri, I felt I could have stayed there for months. A lot of the time I was wandering around in Bliss…the whole thing was so profoundly embodying and nourishing. We would rise at 3 30am, have a cold bucket shower (out of respect for the sadhana we were about to do) and sit by the fire in silent meditation. There was pin-drop silence… After half an hour, the Arati would begin complete with chanting, rituals and bhajans honouring the Ganga river, which is experienced as an embodiment of Divinity. It was mesmerising… I feel that there is no replacement for real, applied, traditional Indian sadhana. It creates a unique devotional connection to the Divine, through illiciting that inner longing for God in every human heart : the bridge to God-realisation. During this stop on the Pilgrimage, I was asked to be the Healer for the Group, which I happily accepted 🙂 It was an incredibly powerful experience and I feel I gave some of my best sessions ever as a result.

I had the opportunity to bathe in the Ganga river for the first time, which I readily took up. We all walked down in a little group from Santosh Puri and prepared ourselves on the banks. The whole vibe was so right… Local Indians were playing in the water, the atmosphere was peaceful and the Divinity was palpable. I submerged myself clothed (as is the tradition), prayed, got my head right underwater and let go… When I surfaced, at first I didn’t think much had happened. But when I left the river to change, I stopped in my tracks recognising that something had completely left me. To this day, I don’t know what it was. Perhaps it was bad karma, perhaps resistance to the process of life, who knows..? I just know that something left and never came back.

While at Santosh Puri, we also celebrated the day of Holi – the festival of colours, joy, unity, forgiveness and new beginnings 🙂

More on the unfolding Pilgrimage journey next time 🙂 I would like to thank and honour Prasadini and Rahul, who led and managed the Pilgrimage so beautifully, giving us all the opportunity to deepen in Divinity together 🙂
